
Emergency nurses provide care across the life span in a variety of settings. The setting for emergency nursing practice is ever expanding as the health care needs of the population grow and change. Emergency nurses provide care in settings where the diagnosis has not yet been made and the course of care is uncertain. Nurses are called upon to provide care where their interventions may be minimal or life saving. They are called upon to be flexible and resilient and comfortable providing compassionate care or crisis intervention. At various intersections in the care delivery process, emergency nurses collaborate with various professionals or community groups to meet the needs of many individuals. In order to meet their patient’s needs, nurses strive to strengthen their individual practice through continued learning. Emergency nurses continue to meet the challenges of their specialty.
